The International Exchange Center strives to promote communication of the teachers and students with their counterparts at overseas universities and foreign experts in international organizations, provide services catering to the needs of the teachers and students in international exchanges, and enhance the internationalization of the School of Foreign Studies.
With the ongoing progress of globalization, the School of Foreign Studies becomes an important unit and shoulders more responsibilities for the work relating to foreign affairs of Hefei University of Technology. The internationalization process in the new era requires not only deepening exchanges with English-speaking countries such as the United States and the United Kingdom, but also enlarging exchanges with non-English-speaking countries such as those in East Asia, Southeast Asia and Europe. To adapt to the general trend of internationalization development and to contribute more to the development and upgrading of the university in international exchanges, the School of Foreign Studies sets up this International Exchange Center depending on foreign language teaching resources, namely, those for the teaching of English, Indonesian, Japanese, Russian, French, and German. Under the leadership of the school, this center mainly does the following:
1. Communicating with overseas universities, societies, academic journals and international organizations, assisting in inviting foreign and foreign affairs experts to the school for collaboration, including lectures and training courses, finalizing various collaborations and ensuring that they are carried out continously in a sustainable manner.
2. Arranging international exchanges for both students and teachers, keeping in touch with the International Department and other competent departments of the university for arranging students to attend courses designed for internationalization, facilitating students to study and intern in cooperative universities overseas, various international organizations and domestic foreign affairs units; and actively introducing teacher training courses relevant to international communication capabilities, improving teacher’s international teaching and research abilities, and assisting in organizing overseas academic visits for teachers.
3. Coordinating the work between the Foreign Language Department and the English Department on Xuancheng Campus, formulating and implementing international student training programs for foreign language majors, introducing foreign teaching materials and integrating them into the curriculum of the university, and dealing with credit recognition and transfer.
4. Assisting in managing and serving international students and foreign teachers, and providing relevant services for international students, foreign experts and foreign language teachers during their stay in Anhui. The services cover their studies, scientific research, teaching, practice and daily life.
5. Providing teachers and students with scientific research data needed for the studies of international exchanges in the fields of English teaching, translation, cross-cultural communication and other related fields.
